Hazard Information

The recalled lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.

What You Should Do

VIVI toll-free at 800-375-6103 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or online at https://viviebikes.com/pages/recall or https://viviebikes.com and click on "Important Recall Information" for more information.. Consumers should immediately stop using e-bikes with the recalled lithium-ion batteries and contact VIVI to receive a free replacement battery and battery charger. Consumers must dispose of the recalled battery at a household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center or follow the instructions of their municipality and confirm that this was done by sending an email to vivirecall@163.com. Note: Do not throw the recalled lithium-ion battery in the trash, in the general recycling stream (e.g., street-level or curbside recycling bins), or in used battery recycling boxes found at various retail and home improvement stores. Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire. Your municipal HHW collection center may accept this recalled lithium-ion battery or device for disposal. Before taking your battery or device to an HHW collection center, contact it ahead of time and ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries. If it doesn't, contact your municipality for further guidance.. Available options: Replace

About This Product

VIVI brand e-bikes use 36V lithium-ion batteries to power pedal-assist systems. These batteries are removable and often charged off-bike. The recall covers models listed in the recall notice and is meant to protect users from fire hazards.

Why This Is Dangerous

Lithium-ion batteries can overheat due to internal faults or damage. Overheating may ignite surrounding materials, causing burns or property damage.

Industry Context

This recall is not described as part of a broader industry pattern.

Real-World Impact

Owners of affected e-bikes face the risk of fire or burns. The recall provides a remedy that offers a free replacement battery and charger and emphasizes safe disposal of the recalled battery.

Practical Guidance

How to identify if yours is affected

  1. Check the e-bike model on the original sales order or frame for C26, MT20, H6, H7, FM20, Z1, Z2.
  2. Inspect the battery label for model numbers such as ZBL-36V8AH, ZBL-36V10.4Ah, SKD015, EB3608C0B, EB360817E, EB3610D0B, EB360808L, SKD036008009A, ZBL-36V8AH, ZBL10SP36V8AH.
  3. Look for VIVI printed on the downtube.

Where to find product info

Battery model numbers are printed on the battery itself. E-bike model numbers are listed on the sales order documentation and sometimes on the bicycle frame.

What timeline to expect

4-8 weeks for replacement processing is typical, depending on inventory and disposal logistics.

If the manufacturer is unresponsive

  • Document all contact attempts with VIVI.
  • Escalate to consumer protection agencies if the company remains unresponsive.
  • Consider legal guidance if a substantial safety risk remains unaddressed.

How to prevent similar issues

  • When buying e-bikes, verify battery compatibility with the model and check for recall notices for the battery type.
  • Prioritize batteries from reputable manufacturers with clear safety testing.
  • Register product with the manufacturer for faster recall notifications.

Documentation advice

Keep a copy of the recall notice, your sales receipt, model and battery numbers, and all correspondence with the company. Photograph the battery and label for records.
